Parasakthi Mariamman Temple is a famous and powerful Mariamman temple in Tamil Nadu. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Parvati, who is worshiped in the form of Goddess Parasakhti. Known for its beautiful architecture and rich history, the temple is a popular pilgrimage site for Hindus. The temple has a large complex spread over an area of 10 acres and is surrounded by enormous walls and has a large gate decorated with intricate carvings and sculptures. The most attractive part of the temple is its main tower called 'Rajagopuram' is 45 meters high and it is adorned with beautiful statues and sculptures. The temple has two main shrines, one dedicated to Goddess Parasakhti and the other to her consort Lord Shiva, and there are many other shrines and shrines of other Hindu gods and Goddesses. Parasakthi Mariamman Temple is famous for festivals and celebrations like Navaratri Festival, Karthigai Deepam Festival and Aadi Festival. The temple is also popular for its special tradition of 'Amman Kovil Thiruvizha', a festival celebrating the birthday of the saintly Goddess Parasakhti. During this festival, the temple is decorated with lights and flowers, special pujas and rituals are performed. The festival also includes procession of the idol of the Goddess on the streets of Virudhunagar.

History of Parasakthi Mariamman Temple

Parasakthi Mariamman Temple was built by King Raja Singhala of Virudhunagar in the 16th century. The temple is built in Dravidian architectural style, one of the temples of South India. The construction of this temple is said to have been inspired by the king's dream in which goddess Parvati appeared to him and instructed him to build a temple in her honour.
